Tax Waiver to Brewery is Brewing?

The customs ordinance empowers the Minister of finance to exempt goods imported by certain person/persons from import duties only if he deems it ‘’expedient in the Public Interest’’ to do so.

Local press broke out the news that Lion brewery, which imports beer from several Asian countries, was given duty waiver. Lion and Carlsberg brand sold by lion brewery are also produced in Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia and India. Total duty levied on imported beer is Rs 582 Duty waiver was given to Lion Brewery to help them to come over operational difficulties they faced after the devastating floods they faced, where their machinery too got badly affected.
