Audit Act Before Attorney-General’s Dept.
A few days back the Legal Draftsman’s Department had reportedly concluded the drafting of the Act and submitted it to the Government . The Government in turn has referred the National Audit Act to the Attorney General’s Department.
The Attorney-General’s Department is thus tasked with the responsibility of certifying that the Act abides by the Constitution of Sri Lanka.
The Act is due to be submitted to the Cabinet and subsequently to the Parliament, following certification by the Attorney-General’s Department.
Government information sources stated that the Government expected to pass and enforce the National Audit Act within the course of the next month.
