Weather Forecast For 24th August 2017

There is a high possibility for afternoon thundershowers in the Eastern, Uva and North-Central provinces today.Cloudy skies can be expected at most parts of the island.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Eastern, Uva and North-Central provinces and in the Mullaitivu and Vauniya districts after 2.00 p.m. Fairly heavy falls (about 50 mm) can be expected at some places particularly in the Batticaloa, Badulla and Ampara districts.

Showers or thundershowers will occur in the Jaffna district.

Several spells ofshowers will occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-Western and Central provinces and in theGalle and Matara districts.

Fairly strong winds about 50 kmph can be expected in the Hambanthota district and in the western coastal area.

(There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.)
