Love Trap Paid Dividend to Arrest a Thief

One thief continued to rob money and  things from a leading Trade Centre in Galthude Area in Bandaragama for a long time without being caught. There was another small scale shop opened and operated by a single man in front of it. From the day things were robbed from the Trade Centre second time, this small shop was kept closed and never opened. But a telephone  number was displayed  in front  to enable  customers and friends to make contact with him. Investigating Bandaragama police team strongly suspected him as the culprit. So they placed a trap to catch him. For this purpose they have chosen a woman police officer and asked her to make contact with him on telephone. To start the conversation they advised her to call him and say first that there was a missed call recorded, and asked him, who is this person. In reply, he said that he didn’t give a call. Later on he started giving calls and talked to her. Finally he has fallen into the trap and said , that he loves her. She maintained that she was from Polonnaruwa and her married live ended up in agony. Further, she told him that she is now employed and staying in a rented room in Panadura. He became mad of her. He pretended to be a well to do man. He told her that he is coming to meet her with valuable gifts, which included a cassette radio recorder and asked her to be ready to go to a hotel to have dinner and enjoy. First, he said that he is coming to meet her in his pick up and after a few hours, he telephoned and told her that the pick developed with some engine trouble and he was forced to come in the bus. She told him not to worry and come as early as possible.
In the right time when he got down from the bus at Panadura bus stand, police in civil uniform took him into custody. On investigation,  he spilled the beans and accepted robbing cash amounting to Rs120,000 and other things. Finally love trap paid dividend.
