Forest Rangers Fired at Treasure Hunters

While forest rangers were on duty in Lunugamvehara forest , they observed  treasure hunters  at  work and at a distance a pikeup vehicle parked. When they tried to approach them they sped away in the pickup.  Forest rangers closely followed them  and opened fire targeting the tyres of the pickup , which went flat and the pickup stopped. Forest rangers were able to arrest three of the inmates out of five. Two of them have escaped. A teacher from a Matara school, a forest officer of the Kataragama division and the third person is from Tissamaharagama are the three suspects arrested.
 Forest rangers have recovered equipment , materials for pooja and another van used  for this treasure hunting. They are all to be produced in the Tissamaharagama Court.
