A Special Discussion to Solve Kataragama Temple Conflict

A special discussion will be held at the Department of Buddha Sasana today(28) to solve the conflict that has arisen at the Kataragama temple.

Commissioner General of Buddhist Affairs Nimal Kotawelagedara said,  Basnayaka Nilame and the officiating persons will arrive at the department today.

Therefore, a permanent program will be introduced for activities at the Kataragama temple.

The first 5 months income is given to the officiating persons,  while the balance 7 months income is given to the Basnayake Nilame.

A tense situation erupted on the 22nd of August which resulted in a protest as well.

For the first time in history, the doors were not opened for religious observances at the Kataragama temple.
