Showery condition over the country will enhance during today and tomorrow. Therefore, Showers or thundershowers will occur at times over most parts of the island.
Very heavy falls (above 150 mm) are expected at some places in the North-western, North-central and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Kaluthara district.
Heavy falls (above 100 mm) are expected at some places elsewhere.
There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
On the apparent southward relative motion of the sun, it is going to be directly over the latitudes of Sri Lanka during 27th of August and 06th of September in this year. The nearest towns of Sri Lanka over which the sun is almost overhead today (01st) are Kottukachchiya, Mamunugama, Ehetuwewa, Thalawa, Madatugama, Kibissa, Polonnaruwa, Vakaneri and Passikudahabout 12.11 noon.
