Sri Lanka Cricket Selection Committee officially Resigns Today

The resignation of the National Selection Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket will officially come into effect today.
The Selection Committee chaired by Sanath Jayasuriya decided to resign last week following the recent show of poor results by the National cricket team.
In acceptance of the tendered resignations the Ministry of Sports in a statement said Sri Lanka Cricket Chief Selector Sanath Jayasuriya, as well as committee members Ranjith Madurasinghe, Romesh Kaluwitharana, Asanka Gurusinha and Eric Upashantha, have decided to resign.
The statement said a combined letter bearing the names of the above committee has conveyed this decision to Minister of Sports Dayasiri Jayasekara. According to the letter, their tenure will end on the 7th of September 2017. A new Selection Committee is yet to be named.
In a statement the Committee said their decision to step down comes in the best interests of the game, which is being damaged and hindered by undue criticism and false allegations instigated by interested parties with malicious intent adding the unruly behaviour of fans during the 3rd ODI in Pallekalle was the ‘last straw’.
