UNHRC 36th Session Commences today

UNHRC 36th Session Commences today

United Nations Human Rights Commission’s 36th Secession Commences from today and continue till 29th of September. In this session Srilankan ministerial level delegations will not participate. Further there was no item scheduled in the agenda in connection with Srilanka. However, Srilanka delegation will be led by Ravinath Aaryasinghe,  Srilanka’s residential representative in Geneva.
First of all UNHCR President and commissioner of human fights are expected to address the session.
It is expected UN human rights commissioner Saith Al Hussain will revealed the progress made and observed in regard to Geneva resolution passed in the year 2015. A few member countries are expected to raise certain issues regarding implementation of the Geneva resolution.
In the meantime, the United Nations special rapporteurs have visited various countries and submitted their reports to the 36th session. It is reported Srilanka has been quoted as one of the countries not adequately addressed the issue of involuntary disappearances in Srilanka.
