Fasting Unto Death Until Approval Granted by District Secretary to Cut His Own Trees at Home

In Wattagoda, Madakumbaura Vevahena village a villager had planted teak trees in his land to get income to meet expenses of his 5 children when they are grown up. Trees as well as children grown up. In order to meet the financial requirement of children for their education, he got permission from the local authorities to cut some of these teak trees after paying 15,000 rupees. When he tried to cut trees District Secretariat intervened and said that he cannot cut these trees. Only they can cut. He objected to this and insisted that he has all the rights to cut the trees planted by him.  But district secretariat officials did not agree for it. The tug of war is going on. In the meantime, the frustrated owner built a temporarily bed between trees on top of trees and launched a fasting campaign. He wants this matter to be brought to the notice of the President and his legitimate demand to cut his own trees be permitted.
