CCTV Footage Identified Bank Thief at Puttalam

A man living along Puttalam, Kurunegala Street went to a bank to deposit cash of Rs. 175,000 in his bank account. He kept the small bag containing cash on the counter on one side and took a bank pay in slip from the other side of the counter. After filling the pay in slip, he looked for the cash bag. He was shocked to see the money bag disappeared from where he kept. Highly worried bank customer went to the Puttalam police and lodged a complaint.

Puttalam police acted swiftly. They examined the CCTV footage of the bank and observed a Navy personal standing behind the victim slowly pulling the cash bag to slip down and going outside the bank. Then he came back and stood behind the victim to deposit money and went out. All his activities have been clearly displayed in the CCTV footage.

Police obtained details of the Navy personal from the bank account and summoned him to the police station immediately. Realizing the danger, he brought back the money bag along with him and surrendered to the police. Police found money was intact in the bank.
