Empty Threat of Mahinda Deshapriya to Resign?

Local Government election Amendment bill was passed in parliament day before yesterday (20) with 2/3 rd majority. In response to a question raised by leader of the JVP Anurakumara Dissanayake in Parliament , Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe has announced that the local government election will be conducted in March 2018.

In addition Prime Minister has announced in other forums publicly that the local government election will be held in March 2018. While this is the situation about conducting local government election, Chairman of the Election
Commission said to have made an empty threat that he would resign from his post, if local government election is not conducted before the end of the year 2018.
