Period of Sabaragamuwa PC  Expires at Midnight Today

Followed by the  Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council  election,  the sixth session of the Provincial Council was initiated on the 26th of September with Mahipala Herath taking office as the Chief Minister of the Province.

The term of the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council comes to an end at midnight today.

The final session of the Provincial Council will be held in the Ratnapura New Town at the Council complex.

According to Provincial Council Elections Amendment Bill passed in Parliament last week, the governance of the Provincial Council will be under the purview of the Governor when the Council dissolves at midnight .

It is relevant to mention  that the official term of the North Central Provincial Council comes to an end on the 30th of September while the term of the Eastern Provincial Council concludes on the 1st of October.
