Gas Price Increase Push lunch, Hopper & Cup of tea Prices Up

The last gas price change was made two years ago in the 2015 Budget proposal.

The price of a domestic LP gas cylinder was reduced by 25 rupees through the 2015 Budget. But now it has been increased. Accordingly, a domestic LP gas cylinder which was priced at 1,321 rupees is now priced at 1,431 rupees.

The  Chairman of the All Island Canteen Owners Association ,Asela Sampath said, that the increase in price  of a  12.5kg domestic gas cylinder by Rs 110 compelled them  to increase  the price of a lunch packet, a hopper and a cup of tea.

He further said,  the Association will convene this evening to arrive at a decision to increase the price of several food items and beverages.
