As State pharmacists are on protest campaign and struck work, the government has decided to issue drugs free of charge through all drug stores owned by the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation. Minister of Health Dr. Rajitha Senaratne has issued the directive after considering the inconvenience faced by patients.

Individuals who receive treatment from state hospitals will be able to receive drugs free of charge by producing the prescriptions issued by doctors.
