Implementing Rs. 25,000 Traffic Fine Delayed Due to Non Approval by Legal Draftsman Dept.

National Council for Road Safety earlier announced that the minimum traffic fine of Rs. 25,000 for selected traffic violations would be enforced from today (01).
But, the Council’s Chairman Dr. Sisira Kodagoda said, as the relevant documents are yet to be approved by the Legal Draftsman Department, there will be further delay in implementation.
Fines on traffic offenses which will be increased to Rs. 25,000 are in respect of the following :
Driving without a valid driving license.
Deploying persons without driving license in services
Driving under the influence liquor and drugs
Driving a vehicle into a railway road unsafely
Driving a vehicle without a valid insurance cover
