Former Deputy Minister Premaratne Sentenced to 4-Year Rigorous Imprisonment

The former Deputy Minister Shantha Premaratne was accused of demanding and obtaining Rs. 50,000 bribe from a woman in Ampara in 2007 and charged in the High Court of Colombo .

When the  case against  him was taken up today, Colombo High Court Judge, Piyasena Ranasinghe sentenced him to a 4-year rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs. 10,000.
