hile addressing an event held in BMICH yesterday (14), President Maithreepala has made a memorial speech on Gunapala Malalasekara, who achieved excellence in diplomatic service.

At this event the President said, that most of the people join the foreign diplomatic services to spend their retirement period peacefully. That is why there is a high demand for diplomatic services. If all those in the diplomatic services, who served in the last decade had done services as done by Gunapala Malalasekara, Srilanka would have been converted into a prospering country. Further he said, we could have obtained several benefits from foreign countries. To some up his memorial speech the President said, that all those in the diplomatic services should follow the footsteps of Gunapala Malalasekara.
