India vs Sri Lanka, 2nd Test Day 4: India thump Sri Lanka by innings and 239 runs

All it took in the end for India was little over three hours – including the lunch break – to break the monkey’s back. R Ashwin played the crucial role in taking four wickets on the fourth day of the second Test to reach 300 Test wickets as Sri Lanka threw things away. Just a little after the lunch break, India had equalled their highest winning margin in Test cricket by beating Sri Lanka by an innings and 239 runs in Nagpur. Ashwin played the main role with other bowlers – Ishant SharmaUmesh Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja all picking up two wickets each. Dinesh Chandimal was the only batsman to offer any challenge or stood up to the Indian bowling and was rewarded with a personal milestone (fifty). However, others faltered and threw away their wickets to help India to a simple victory.
