Over Speeding Car Crashes Into a High Tension Power Pole Killing 1 & Injuring 5

A car travelling at a high speed from Maharagama to Homagama crashed into a high tensions electricity pole in the Mahalwarawa area on the Maharagama-Kottawa road.This accident occurred at around 3 am today (29).

Police said, over speeding car lost control when attempting to avoid a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction. The car had veered off the road and crashed into a high tension power pole on the roadside. The driver of the car was rushed to the Kalubowila Hospital in critical condition, while the other five passengers of the vehicle have been admitted to the Homagama Hospital.

The driver had succumbed to injuries at the Kalubowila Hospital. The car had also sustained severe damage in the collision.

Kottawa Police is conducting further investigations into the incident.
