Decisive Meeting Underway in Presidential Secretariat to Solve Train Strike

Followed by failure in talks held yesterday between the Ministry of Transport authorities and striking Trade union representatives, strike continued. Presidential Secretariat has intervened to resolve the strike. President’s Secretary Austin Fernando has requested the Secretary of the Transport Ministry to invite all the trade unions for a discussion.
Accordingly a discussion with the striking Railway trade unions began at the Presidential Secretariat, Colombo this morning (08).
Meanwhile, Railway Main Control Room said, although 276 train services were cancelled, they were able to operate 8 train services.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Sri Lanka Transport Board, Ramal Siriwardena said, that leave of drivers, conductors, and technicians have been cancelled and the train season ticket holders are allowed to travel on SLTB buses using their season tickets.
