Highest number of nomination lists rejected is from SLPP

Speaking to a news Media, Assistant Director of the CAFFE organization, Keerthi Tennakoon said, that the highest number of nomination lists for the upcoming local government election were rejected from the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna. This was unprecedented in the local government election history.
Tennakoon said, 11 nomination lists submitted by the Podujana Peramuna have been rejected adding the Jaffna Municipal Council, Valikamam North and South, Delft and Thirappane Pradeshiya sabha nomination lists were rejected yesterday and six of their nomination lists were rejected previously.
Keerthi Tennakoon stated, the SLPP had to face this problem as a result of parties not complying with regulations when preparing nomination lists. Negligence is the main cause for the rejection.
Tennakoon said the main reason appears to be deletions and insertion of names after it has been signed by the Party Secretaries and added a person without power submitting nomination lists is another reason the nomination lists were rejected.
