Some LG candidates have no NIC’s

Addressing the Heads of Media Institutions at a discussion held at the Information Department yesterday (26), the Election Commission Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya   said, that 10% of the LG election candidates do not have National Identity Cards. They used Passport and other documents to identify their identity during nomination. His office will begin issuance of temporary IDs with effect from 2nd of January, he added.
