Tea Export to Russia Recommences From Tomorrow

Tea export to Russia came to a standstill after Russia banned tea import from Srilanka on the grounds that some of the packages contained insects. Tea exports to Russia was suspended during the last two weeks.

After Srilanka’s shuttle diplomacy and assurance given that it won’t be repeated, Russia agreed to allow tea import from Srilanka.

Colombo National Sellers Regulatory organization announced, that tea export to Russia will recommences from tomorrow (30).

However, a technical team from Russia will visit Srilanka in January for an inspection, a statement issued by the Srilankan embassy in Moscow mentioned.
