Rajitha Ruled Out Any Crisis Between UNP & SLFP

Speaking to a media, Minister of Health, Rajitha Senaratne said, that attempts made by the joint opposition to topple the Yahapaalana government would not succeed. He said the president took oaths on 09 January 2015, by which time the 19th amendment was not adopted. That means, he took the government nor the UNP and the SLFP are having any crisis over the letter sent by president Maithripala Sirisena to the Supreme Court, said minister Rajitha Senaratne.
He told Lanka News Web that attempts by the joint opposition to topple the Yahapaalana government would not succeed. He said the president took oaths took oaths for a six year term. As promised at the presidential election, the president’s term was reduced through the 19th amendment, with his full agreement.
Now, there is an issue whether he took oaths for five years or six years. The president nor the ministers could decide that. Only the SC can interpret it correctly. The government will act according to the SC opinion.
Answering a question, he refuted claims of trouble between the president and the PM or within the government as claimed. Those are creations by the power hungry JO. The president is not power hungry. The other thing is that he is the President today because of UNP led by Ranil Wickremasinghe. The President and the Prime Minister understand each other well and in good terms.
When a coalition rules the country, various issues arise, and the JO tries to blow them out of proportions, Senaratne observed. But, they will not succeed, and a majority of the people will not allow that to happen either, he said with confidence.
