Muslim Council Alleges Muslims Targeted for Attack After Election…

President of the Muslim Council of Srilanka N. M. Ameen has addressed a letter  to Prof. G.L. Peries , Chairperson of the Srilanka Podujana  Peramuna stating that after the Election Muslims living in certain areas are subjected to attack. His Letter reads  thus ‘’ Dear Prof. Peries

We have great pleasure in congratulating  you on your impressive victory at the just concluded Local government Election.

With deep regret, I wish to bring to your kind attention that some of your party cadres are suspected of causing violence  against  some Muslim in Ugurapitiya  in Kandy , Veyangalla in Agalawatte, Kalutara and a few other Muslim villages on the assumption that Muslims in these areas did not support you.

To the best of our knowledge , considerable number of Muslim  has supported your party especially because  of yours and former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s able to leadership.

We would be grateful if you would kindly  send out a press communiqué and message to your party cadres requesting them to refrain from causing any hatred or violence against anyone.
