Drastic Drop in Mahinda’s Vote Bank

Finance and Mass Media Minister Mangala Samaraweera issuing a press statement on the outcome of the LG election pointed out that a resounding majority of citizens numbering 6.1 million (55.3%) voted against Mahinda Rajapakshe’s rule. Considering the last Saturday’s election result Mahinda Rajapakshe faction has obtained only 44.7%.

In response MP Namal Rajapakshe, son of Mahinda Rajapakshe twitted thus: “Hon. Min. @MangalaLK: #SriLanka knows how obsessed you’ve been in finding anti-Rajapaksa voters. At least now, your time could be better spent in developing the country & helping the people rather than aimlessly attacking the Rajapaksas. Fulfil promises you made to the people!”

Local Government election result has no bearing on parliamentary election.
