New Speed Measurement Infrastructure In Operation on the Expressways From Today….

The Road Development Authority says that a new speed measurement system will be implemented on the expressways from today (14) and all the vehicles travelling via expressways will be monitored.

Hence, from today on wards speeding drivers will receive photographs of their vehicles speeding over speed limit along the Expressway, at the point of exit point. The photographs will also include details of the licence plate of the vehicles number, observation date, time and speed. Director of Expressway Management and Maintenance S.Opanayake stated that 27% of the accidents on expressways occur due to vehicles exceeding the speed limit. Hence, new speed measurement infrastructure was introduced.
