2564 Arrested During Police Raid

 A total of 2564 suspects have been arrested following an island-wide crackdown launched by 16,256 police personnel last morning, the Police headquarters says
The four-hour raid was carried out following instructions issued by the Inspector General of Police, between 2 and 6 this morning.
The Police Media Unit said, 4735 cases were also filed against perpetrators.
Accordingly 741 suspects involved in various crimes, 720 persons named in warrants and 524 suspects involved in drug trafficking have been identified.
Additionally 504 suspects were arrested for driving while under the influence, 71 individuals involved in sand mining and 04 individuals in possession of fire arms without a valid license were also arrested during the raid.
The Police headquarters noted similar raids will be carried out in the future with the intention of preventing crimes and reducing the number of road accidents.
