President Signed the Gazette Notification Lifting the State of Emergency           

President Maithripala Sirisena has signed the gazette notification lifting the State of Emergency imposed due to the  recent unrest in the Kandy District.
The gazette was issued by the Secretary to the President on the orders of the Head of State.
The gazette read, Maithripala Sirisena as the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka with immediate effect revokes the proclamation issued by him in terms of the powers vested in him by Section 2 of the Public Security Ordinance as amended by Act No.8 of 1959, Law No.6 of 1978 of the National State Assembly and Act No.28 of 1988 proclaiming the operation of the provisions of Party II of the aforesaid Ordinance throughout Sri Lanka with effect from the 6th of March.
The gazette lifting the State of Emergency was signed last night upon the return of President Sirisena from Japan.
