Supreme Court Determines Judicature Amendment Act needs 2/3 Majority
The Supreme Court determined to pass the Judicature amendment Bill it needs 2/3 majority in parliament.
The determination of the Supreme Court was conveyed to the Speaker.
Joint Opposition MP Dinesh Gunawardena and SLPP Leader Professor GL Peiris have jointly petitioned the supreme stating that the amendment act take over some powers of the judiciary.
Certain other parties contested this and made their submission. The Supreme Court considered submissions made for and against the amendment act and delivered their verdict.
