A British Media Warns Foreign Women Tourists Visiting Srilanka

A British media reported isolated incidents that took place in Mirissa in Srilanka. The news item quoted that attempts were made to molest   two women tourists. A Netherland tourist, who volunteered to assist two women tourists was severely attacked by youths.
Sexual harassment by a youth took place on last Sunday (8th) while one Netherland male tourist took dinner with two British tourists in a hotel. In the first instance an employee of the hotel tried to misbehave and then attempted to sexually harass the two British women tourists. Other youths joined with him and tried to dance around them. When they tried to lodge a complaint with the hotel Management, they too took it lightly, laughed at them and ignored it.
When provoked tourists tried to leave the hotel, youths followed them and attacked the Netherland youth for about 10 minutes.  Netherland tourist was injured in this incident.
A Dutch tourist too has spoken to the media and warned women to take precautions when participating in night entertainment.
As foreign women tourists are targeted in Srilanka, Netherland tourism Ministry reported to have issued a travel adversary to women tourists to Srilanka, the British media reported.
They are advised to avoid travelling alone and lodging in beach side hotels.
