New Mechanism to Identify Samurdhi Beneficiaries

As there are accusations that persons, who are not qualified to receive Samurdhi benefits are enjoying it, the government is considering to introduce a new mechanism to identify Samurdhi beneficiaries in future, said Minister Gayantha Karunathillake.

In the meantime, All Ceylon Samurdhi and Assistant Agriculture Development Officers’ Union said, if the proposal to take the Samurdhi Development Bank under the purview of the Central Bank is not withdrawn within 2 weeks, a series of protests will be organized in future.
