While speaking at a meeting of UNP local government representatives in Matara, Minister of Finance and media Mangala Samaraweera said, no one should forget the commitments made by Maithripala Sirisena at the risk to his life as the common presidential candidate then,
Had Sirisena lost, the expected revenge that would have taken would have been worse than that of Sarath Fonseka. Further he said, the president has not forgotten the fact that he won with the votes of the UNP. The minister urged that the president be not criticized thus creating unnecessary trouble.
He added that even if the next president is from the UNP, Sirisena would be given his due place.
