Formation of an Independent Group by UNP Backbenchers

A  Parliamentary group of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party while representing the government is criticizing the United National Party as part of the Opposition.

MP WIjesiri stated the UNP is unable to face and  defeat conspiracies against the government, as a group within the government is acting according to the whims and fancies of the Opposition. Hence , a  Parliamentary group  of backbenchers of the United National Party are preparing to work as an independent group within Parliament after holding discussions in this regard with party leader Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
