‘Aaloka Pooja’ To Commemorate Fallen War Heroes

The SriLanka Army along with the Police and Civil Security Department are scheduled to commemorate fallen war heroes who sacrificed their lives during the conflict, in a special ‘Aaloka Pooja’ ceremony at the Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya tomorrowevening.
The main event of celebrating national War Heroes’ Day is organized tomorrow at Battaramulla. The conduct of the unprecedented ‘Aaloka Pooja’ which will kindle 28,619 lamps is dedicated symbolically to each fallen tri service and Police war hero and those reported missing in action during the conflict.
Accordingly the event which will be held under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena, will also be attended by the Chief of Defence Staff, Commanders of the Army, Navy and Air Force, Inspector General of Police and Director General of the Civil Security Department.
A representative gathering of next of kin of fallen soldiers have been invited to light the lamps at the Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya, in memory of the many lives lost during the conflict.
