Nipah Outbreak in Kerala Keeps Health Dept on High Alert

The Kerala Health Department has been put on high alert following the death of three persons, all belonging to the same family, due to Nipah virus outbreak in Kerala came to light after 3 members of a family at Changarothu village in Kozhikode district in Kerala died on Sunday.
Following the deaths, Union minister J P Nadda directed the Director of National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to visit the district to assist the state government. Barely 12 hours after the deaths of the three persons were confirmed, eight more people died after showing similar symptoms in Kozhikode and Malappuram.
