Water Level Main Rivers Rising To Spill Level

The Disaster Management Center has asked  the people, who are living in low-lying areas of Nilwala, Kalu, Gin, Kelani rivers and Aththanagalu and Maa Oya to be careful as possibility of  floods exist.

Inclement weather has cost 7 lives. Four persons including a Buddhist nun died from being struck by lightning in separate incidents in Horana, Welikanda. Another person died as a soil mound collapsed on their house at Undugoda in Bulathkohupitiya last night. In Monaragala, a woman died after a tree branch fell on her in Badalkumubura.

The Disaster management Center has requested that the public take precautionary measures during lightning and storms. DMC has advised public to avoid   visiting flood-affected areas on sight-seeing. Due to flood  traffic is blocked.

Our correspondents reported that traffic has been affected in many areas due flooding.
