Appointment of a New Deputy Speaker on Tuesday

Sixteen (16) Parliamentarians including MP Thilanga Sumathipala defected from the government after voting in favor of the Motion of No Confidence against Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Accordingly, MP Thilanga Sumathipala informed that he will also resign from his post as Deputy Speaker.

The New Deputy Speaker of Parliament will be appointed on Tuesday the 5th of June.

Deputy General Secretary of Parliament, Neil Iddawela said the resignation of Former Deputy Speaker, Thilanga Sumathipala will be officially informed to Parliament, on that day.
