CEA to Carry Out Raids to Detect Banned Polythene Next Week

The use of polythene bags, polythene wrapping, polythene decorations and rigifoam has been banned since September 2017.
The Central Environmental Authority is drawing plans to carry out raids with Police assistance to arrest those who still use banned polythene products. The Authority says that raids will be carried out from next week.
The Director of the Environmental Pollution Control Unit said that 2,700 raids have been carried out during the current year to arrest people for manufacturing, selling and using banned polythene products. Legal action has been taken against 150 of them.
