Hindu God Ganesha’s Stature Surfaces from Mannar Sea…..

A  group of  Mannar fishermen had cast a fishing net yesterday morning  and when it was pulled up to the surface, they had found the statue of Hindu god Ganesha (Ghanapathy). They detected the statue near  Mannar fishing habour.

As per fishermen’s view that the stone statue, seemed to have been on the sea bed for a long time.

The older Mannar towns had been located close to the Mannar harbour area and several such archaeologically valuable objects had been found in this area previously, the fishermen said.

The statue of Ganesh is scheduled to be handed over to the Archaeological Department officers.
