Date Fixed for Bharatha Lakshman’s Murder Trial

 

The Colombo High Court today fixed dates for the Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra murder case against 13 accused including former United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Parliamentarian Duminda Silva.

The case will be heard by a special trial at bar from October 12 onwards. The High Court directed that the case will be heard from Monday to Wednesday on each week after the commencement of the hearing.

The case will be heard without the 10th accused, which had disappeared. The court was informed that there is a separate case at the Kaduwela Magistrate Courts pertaining to his disappearance.

All 12 accused present in court pleaded not guilty to all 17 charges. The charges include murder, causing injury, attempted murder and unlawful assembly.

The 3rd accused is currently in remand custody for violating bail terms. He was further remanded till October 12.
