Russian man pays for iPhone XS with a bathtub full of coins

(FASTNEWS|COLOMBO) Remember when Samsung settled a lawsuit with Apple in coins? Now, a Russian pulled off a similar prank when he went to an Apple store to buy the new iPhone XS and carried not a card or stash of cash but a bathtub full of coins!

A Facebook user posted a photograph of the tub, filled to the brim with coins, and onlookers with smartphones filming the bizarre scene. An employee of the store can be seen patiently counting the change. Apple spokeswoman, Lyudmila Semushina, wrote that the tub contained 100,000 Rubles, which was enough to buy a new iPhone XS, which retails between $1,050 to $1,500 in Russia.

“What is it to be #clientorientated? It’s when a customer decides to do some hype and brings in a bathtub of change to buy an iPhone and the seller calmly and patiently sits down to count out the bath,” Semushina said, adding that it took about two hours to finish counting.
