New Gazette on duties and functions of Ministries soon

(FASTNEWS|COLOMBO) – The Minister of National Integration, Official Languages, Social Progress, and Hindu Religious Affairs, Mano Ganesan on Wednesday (02) stated that a new Gazette Notification is to be issued on the duties and functions of the Ministries.

Ganesan stressed that the new Gazette Notification will accommodate recommendations made by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

President Maithripala Sirisena had informed the Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday (02) about moves to issue the new Gazette Notification shortly.

The first meeting of the newly appointed Cabinet of Ministers was held yesterday, at the President’s Official Residence under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.

Even though the new Cabinet of Ministers met for the first time on the day of their swearing-in ceremony, the meeting was limited to only twenty-minutes, as the purview of respective Ministries had not been finalised at the time.

Thereby, the meeting convened yesterday discerned as the first Cabinet meeting, following the issuance of the first Gazette Notification on duties and functions of the respective Ministries.
