Johnson, Arterton Join “Kingsman” Prequel

(FASTNEWS|COLOMBO) – The cast of Matthew Vaughn’s “Kingsman” prequel is filling out with a bunch more names added to this tale set during the early days of WW1. As previously indicated, the project is said to have more of a period drama vibe than the two Taron Egerton-led over-the-top spy thrillers.

Baz Bamigboye reports that Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who worked with Vaughn on “Kick Ass,” has joined the cast along with Matthew Goode (“Watchmen”) and Gemma Arterton (“Quantum of Solace”).

Also joining in multiple roles is “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “The Night Manager” actor Tom Hollander who will play King George V, Kaiser Wilhelm and Tsar Nicholas II – all of whom are part of Queen Victoria’s family tree within the film.

Harris Dickinson and Ralph Fiennes play the protege/mentor pairing of this outing while Rhys Ifans, Daniel Bruhl, Charles Dance, Djimon Hounsou and Alison Steadman co-star. Production has just kicked off in London.

Vaughn expects to shoot a proper “Kingsman” sequel to wrap up the Harry Hart-Eggsy trilogy later this year. Vaughn is also developing a “Kingsman” TV series.
