Thirty-one suspects including ‘Makandure Madush’, Amal and Nadeemal remanded

(FASTNEWS|COLOMBO) – Several well-placed sources speculated that thirty-one suspects including several high-profile figures arrested red-handed with a wanted Sri Lankan underworld drug kingpin, ‘Makandure Madush’ in a raid at a hotel in Dubai, were remanded on Thursday (15).

Accordingly, thirty-one suspects including Artistes Amal Perera and his son Nadeemal along with the drug kingpin, Madush were remanded till 28 February after being produced in a Dubai Court yesterday.

However, the Attorneys representing the Artistes were granted approval to file the bail applications within the week.

A large quantity of drugs was recovered from the suspects in the joint operation by the Dubai Police and Sri Lankan Law Enforcement Authorities.

Madush, who is among Sri Lanka’s most wanted criminals, had been evading arrest for the past couple of years.

The Authorities are now in talks with Dubai to extradite him to Sri Lanka.
