White Van Abductions by Military Intelligence Units – Gotabaya

Former Defense Secretary Gotabaya  said that Military Intelligence Unit has used White Vans to abduct people, who are made disappeared during Rajapakshe’s regime.

When questioned about abduction of people in white van, he asked  whether  he was questioned on activities of the Military intelligence Unit? During  the years 1988 and 1989, did they use black vans and  abducted people, he asked? White vans were used to abduct criminals, he said.

To capture LTTE terrorists and underground elements, white vans were used by Military intelligence Unit, which are called van vans. Didn’t the intelligence unit  not operated like this earlier ? During JVP insurrection did they use black vans?All have now forgotten about this.

If they want to sling mud on anyone, they create stories based on anything. This is absolutely wrong. Not all our society is fair and justifiable. Mistakes have taken place throughout the history, he said.

Political observers say that the expression made by the former defense Secretary is  serious. Abductions in Srilanka is the main base of UN Resolution on Srilanka. His statement will be taken into consideration in future UN investigation, political observers said.
