Report on two recent emergency landings in two days
(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – The Civil Aviation Authority says the report on the emergency landings by two light aircraft of a domestic airline will be released within the next two days.
Director-General of the Authority Captain Themiya Abeywickrama said an investigation is still underway.
He said steps have been taken to assess the condition of all light aircraft currently in use in the country following the two recent emergency landings that were reported within a week.
A light aircraft belonging to the local airline made an emergency landing in Payagala on the 22nd of December.
The training instructor and pilot were unharmed.
However, on Monday two pilots and a Lebanese couple sustained minor injuries when a Cessna 172 light aircraft belonging to the same company made an emergency landing in a paddy field in Kimbulapitiya, Katana.
Following this incident, the Civil Aviation Authority ordered the suspension of all operations of the local airline.
