Welikade Pregnant Shooting Suspect Arrested.

A person riding a motorbike  suddenly stopped near a pregnant woman leaving  the Welikada prison  after visiting a detainee, and asked  the woman whether she was the wife of the person named Samayang, when she noded, she was shot at  in front of the Welikada Prison on 5th March 2016

The woman who was severely wounded in the shooting, was admitted to the Colombo National hospital for treatment.

Police said a  26 year old  resident of Weligama , was arrested in connection with the shooting.

At the tome of his arrest he is in possession of a  live hand grenade and five mobile phones which were recovered by police.

A Colombo Police Crimes Division Squad carried out the arrest at Midigama area in Weligama yesterday
