Road renamed Field Marshall Sarath Fonseka Mawatha

The road which connects Ananda Mawatha and Ketawalamulla Mawatha, Maradana will be named as Field Marshall Sarath Fonseka Mawatha on Tuesday.

Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) sources stated this decision was made to pay tribute to Field Marshall Sarath Fonseka for the imperative role that he played in defeating LTTE terrorism. He was Sri Lanka’s Army Commander during the height of the 30-year war between 2006 and 2009.

They said during the re-naming ceremony, deeds will be distributed to 30 householders whose houses at Ketawalamulla Mawatha were earlier demolished.
